last day of 2010. siiiiiiiiiiiiigh. ibang klaseng saya ang naidulot sa akin ng taong ito. ito ang taong lagi naming isinisigaw for the past 5 years...signifying the fulfillment of a dream. in most cases (like mine)...a lifelong dream. this is the year we start living the dream. after all the craziness, studying, sleepless nights, negahan, tawanan comes MORE kabaliwan, pag-aaral, pagkapuyat at tawanan. at ngayong matatapos na siya in 5 hours! OOOOOOH.
nakakatuwang nakakalungkot na matatapos na ang taong sinabi mong...iyo (in english...THIS IS MY YEAR!)
i immensely thank all those who made this year very memorable...
my crazy family, who I learned to appreciate even more this year...ang saya talaga pag kasama mo ang iyong mga kapamilya hahaha.
the bigaTENS! my family in the medical field. para tayong sumali sa isang pinakamalaking fraternity/sorority! this year was indeed ours! good luck to those starting residency and to us who are still swimming...let's just keep swimming! AHAHAHA.
my friends who understand all my craziness! AHAHAHA. to HTGOF and Ate Smoketh who I consider my sisters from another mother, I love you both! this year was truly happy with you at the helm! AHAHAHAHA. gj friends! SAFM, Ate Enjh, alta friends, bioman friends, choirmates :)
my mothership friends, good luck sa ating maraming maraming titingnan next year!
next year I pray for MORE...more blessings, more friends, more love, more pera, more peace. AHOOOOOOOOY. :)
thank you 2010! :)

interlude...
patapos na ang long weekend/Christmas holidays and as usual I am craving for more...more...even more....VACATION! ahahaha. like it's never enough. vacation is like sleep...parang mahirap ma-get over ang lack of it. AHAHAHAHAHA.
and so in the spirit of Kapaskuhan all the movies in the different channels are so cheezy...i looooove it!!!! in the span of 4 days I have watched Four Christmases, Runaway Bride, While you were Sleeping, The Parent Trap, Enchanted, Finding Nemo, Big Daddy, One more Chance, In My Life ( na pinaka-putol...can't believe the I think ano moment was not included!), and for more...10 Commandments (which is currently playing in the background!) add to that.... the Ogie Regine Wedding and the MMFF Awards Night! AHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.
para tuloy ang bilis bilis lang ng lahat and 4 days are now reduced to 2 1/2 hours more. It is at these moments that I wish that I had a time machine so that I can reset back to dec 23 so that I can rest more/watch more movies/eat even more and tunganga to the highest LEVEL! buth then I realize that if I keep resetting I get stuck and just move in circles...and there are certainly limits on the number of movies one can watch until boredom sets in...oooh dumee-deep ang theme. kaya kelangan ng mag move on at pumasok for the next 3 days.
slash pag naiisip ko ang mga balak kong pundarin in the thought bubbles my mind creates I am now determined to go go go and work work work. the past 4 days have been fun and filled with crazy realizations that at the moment escape me but I'm sure will resurface when I blog another time.
I guess one lesson I think is important this holiday season is to learn to be content....with whatever you have at the moment...like 4 day vacations when your shore friends have duties every 3 days, paulit ulit na pagkain (like 4 days ng bbq) but nevertheless has calories that will take years to burn, and many more. Sabi nga sa some cheezy song, if you count the blessings you have surely makakatulog ka na sa dami nila.but I think...Neuroanatomy by Carpenter will trump counting your blessings as a way to make you sleepy! AHAHAHAHA.
So tomorrow,I will be going back to work and have what-I-did-during-Christmas-break conversations with people at the mothership and I hope that this last week of the year will continue to bring laughter and...ANO! more laughter! AHAHAHAHAHAHA.

Happy Christmas!
IKR! and in 2 weeks...it's a start of another year...FOR MORE! ahaha
anyway...at the moment I have nothing to write. just had the need to document this holiday as it is one of those rare times that I am able to savor it dahil naka-contribute na ako...sa pagreregalo! AHAHAHAHAHAHA. for the first time. hahahahahahaha.
so i spent noche buena with my family and facebook where I could greet everyone without waiting for that sent message notification on my phone in our house with no sun signal. AHAHAHA. masaya na talaga ang Pasko ngayong taon ngunit dysmenorrhea couldn't have come at a better time...IKR! so hindi ako masyado nakakain nung gabi in pure cramping mode!
therefore...today ako bumawi at nilantakan ng bonggang bongga ang pagkain...habang nanonood ng mga cheezy movies sa tv! haaaaaaaay...this is the life! pagbukas mo ng ref, feeling mo pinakamayaman ka kasi andoon yung mga hindi niyo pa naubos na pagkain nung noche buena! AHAHAHAHAHAHA. looooove it! pagtingin mo sa phone mo maraming messages ng mga taong bumabati sa yo...at narealize ko na talagang love na love tayo ng Diyos...kasi kahit Siya ang may birthday....feeling mo birthday mo na din kasi madaming handa at regalo at warm fuzzy feelings of happiness and thankfulness. awwww. *Christmas spirit kicking in!*
so today I thank the Lord for all He has done for me...and all that He has planned. Happy Happy Birthday po! This year has been very memorable and I hope that if ever I get Alzheimer's one day, this year would be part of those memories na hindi mabubura. hahahahahaha.

happy HTGOF day!
dapat ay napublish ito nung birthday ni HTGOF. pero dahil late na ako nakauwi in puuuuure last minute Christmas shopping slash facetime with Ate Enjh and Ate Smoketh...therefore. haha.
here's my blog post dedicated to my evil crazy twin/triplet who I believe is living my life at a different dimension in time...the other third dimension would be Ate Smoketh of course. AHAHAHAHAHA. i somehow believe that probably in a previous lifetime (if totoo man ang mga past lives) ay laging nagkakasalubong ang ating paths na tatlo before.ooooh. so senti. suka all over. buth anyway, since I'm tired post shopping and I am too tamad to write. Here's to more years of craziness, AHAHAHAHAHAHAs, activating altas, facetimes and SAO. Happy Birthday HTGOF! heeheeheeeheee.

TUGSH...TUGSH...TUGSH....TUGSH.....sige pa!
it is two weeks before Christmas and now is the time to PARTYYYYYYYYYY. 3 araw na akong umuuwi ng late kalalayas for life after 5. Last Monday, we had HTGOF's last FT (aka facetime) before residency and SAFM's last FT before May 1 ulit edition...where we saw that the shrine is being discovered by aliens who invade SMF1&2 and thereby relegated us to staying at this table we shall now call...SMF4!!!!! and for more....since Smoketh is sicketh and SAFM is cleaning up his latak in the callroom, we saw this little kid alien playing with action figures of dinosaurs and horses and farm animals playing in SMF2...while HTGOF and I were frantically facebooking while looking at the wonders of breakfast makers in Google.
then yesterday, it was our class' party- before- residency-slash yearbook- launch slash party- while- marami- pang- makaka-attend! and i must say that it's a glimpse of what's in store for us in the future. all the while from my trip home from the mothership to the shore I was thinking of how the party would look like...and then pagdating ko sa venue I was greeted by silence. OMG. baka nasa maling lugar ako! then I ask Kuya Guard kung asa loob na ba ang mga tao and he goes...opo! at pagbukas ko ng door, nakita ko ang catering setup with one classmate...and silence. so feeling ko pinakamaaga ako...buth!!!! pag kakuha ko ng food at pagsilip sa adjacent room...there they were! around 20 plus of my batchmates...eating....IN SILENCE!!!!!! WTH! KALOLAHAN extreme edition. if only I had a video camera to show us in 30 years kung paano na ang magiging next get togethers namin as a batch. for the program napanood namin ang videos namin nung medschool where we collectively gasped and applauded everytime we saw someone who gained a lot of weight. let's just say that while watching the video...na 24 mins...parang 22 mins kaming nag-ga-gasp! AHAHAHAHAHAHA. then we had games where charades : sinong bading edition commenced! AHAHAHA.
then tonight, I attended our futuristic company christmas party. where in fairness to me...nafeel ko naman ang kabataan ko. AHAHAHAHAHA. and after some time felt really tired so uwian portion na rin. sana lang nanalo ako sa raffle....hahahaha. anyway...sa saturday meron pang party!!!!! for more! pagod na akong mag tugsh tugsh tugsh. AHAHAHAHA.
anyway...tomorrow is the start of Simbang Gabi....the start of Residency for HTGOF, Da-DUH, CTB, Road Rage, Autumn, and the rest of the fair new IM kids... and the start of nothingness for SAFM! Good luck and Congrats to all of you! SAFM have fun swimming...you are now out of the shore! HTGOF...nagsisimula ka na sa lake...with the swans and the putik! Just keep floating! :)

shopping, reunions, sayings, and therapy....
at dahil napressure ako sa aking mga ka-blog (speaking of we must think of a name na mas matino!) haha ay nagsusulat ako ngayon despite the general feeling of malaise. thank god I think pagaling na ang sakit-an portion. i firmly believe in the saying na...pag may nahawa kang iba...ibig sabihin, pagaling ka na. and speaking of, nanay ko na ang nilalagnat ngayon. ahoooooooooy.
spent the last week with a mask plastered on my face because of bacterial URTI.chaka talaga magkasakit. minsan iniisip ko ano kaya kung ginawa ni God na bawal magkasakit ang tao? haha. therefore wala kaming trabaho. hahahaha. anyway, like any other doctor na nagkakasakit, syempre may I defer all possible meds until maging pinaka-febrile at pinaka nanghihina level na! at after mga 4 days of not taking anything, I finally decided to take antibiotics dahil...TRP na at gusto ko manood. AHAHAHAHA
hay, in fairness, this week madaming nangyari. at nagkatotoo naman ang wish ko for MORE happy moments. haha.moving on... first time ko maging spectator sa TRP after 5 years and I must say, masaya palang manood...pero nakakamiss din palang magperform (I can hear you now HTGOF telling me..."e bakit ka ba kasi ndi sumayaw? aber? *taps foot*). and what's even better is of course sitting there and reminiscing about your own TRP moments (which is one of the signs of impending katandaan) and making okray performances that make absolutely no sense. IKR! like yung may pusong shiny na napupunit. AHAHAHHAHAAHA. and then! for more pathognomonic signs na graduate ka na talaga sa TRP ay kebs na kung sino ang manalo sa chorale competition dahil kelangan na kumain...sa isang kainan na hindi Mcdo or Jollibee. Congrats classmates, we have successfully moved on to the other side! AHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.
speaking of the other side...mahirap palang gumastos para sa sarili mo, if sa iyo galing ang pera. and for more sayings naalala ko ang kasabihang...mas masarap ang chichiria pag humihingi ka sa iba! AHAHAHAHAHA. got some of my month's salary this week and despite the craziness surrounding that day masasabi kong...nakakatuwa palang magtrabaho ng may nakikitang returns. hindi kasi ako sanay. AHAHAHAHA. buth I think my best sweldo related story was when I gave some of it to my dear Lola at pinagmalaki niya sa lahat ng tao sa bahay niya na binigyan ko daw siya ng pera. AHAHAHAHAHAHA.
then despite my panghihina my mom and I went yesterday to the bazaar that will trump all bazaars dahil sale sa lahat ng araw, where else but Divi-freakin-soria! kung saan feeling mo mayaman lahat ng tao dahil bumibili sila left and right buth mare-realize mo na hirap din sila dahil kahit P10 na mirrors ay tatawaran ng..."pwedeng P5 nalang? 2 naman ang bibilhin ko eh!" AHAHAHAHAHHAHA. at nakita ko ang mga ibang items na nakita ko sa St. James at half the price off! AHAHAHA. AHAHAHA. then at around 6 pm my mother and I were so tired and when we got home we realized...waaaaaaaaah. hindi pa namin nabilhan ang ALL. BOOOOOOOO.
then when I get home Dr. Tita is telling me they have a Christmas party and that we have to make a dance. *taps foot while crossing hands over chest* like WTH? buti nalang pumayag siyang titingnan ko nalang ang mga dance moves niya at sasabihin ko kung chaka or hindi. hahaha. so natapos namin ang sayaw nila ng mga...1 am. hahaha. it was a fun filled week despite the sicketh-ness. so sana next week wala na ang sickness pero happy pa rin.

flash back to 9 years prior...
just came home from our Alta Girls' Day Out with Ms. Tingle Bell, HTGOF, and Ms. Earth at the most Alta place in Metro Manila...where else buth Ayala Alabang...for this well known bazaar. the place was full of things to buy....things you need like food, clothes, things you don't need like clocks that project time, sosyal stirrers of kape, solar chargers, stuff you want to eat if you want to increase your BMI to 30, mga ka-ek-ekan...gaya ng portable electric fans, accessories that make you look like royalty, custom made shoes, boxing glove massagers, basta things that encourage you to buy...buy...BUY!
so the 4 of us trotted off early in the morning to have a look at the merchandise and make ikot ikot...where they all bought stuff while I just looked around. haaaaaaay. the best way to not buy anything is to have nothing! AHAHAHAHA. i think i spent more money for food than the thing I bought...which was something for the hair na pwedeng idikit sa dog...na kinon-vince pa ako ng bongga ni HTGOF to buy kasi ang dami na niyang nabili at ako ay wala pa. AHAHAHAHAHA.
anyway, during the course of this shopping experience, I realized that even the rich are not immune to bargains. AHAHAHA. even if the bargains are not really bargains. like dun sa isang stall may buy one take one na P500 something...turns out sa ibang stalls, P250 pala talaga ang price niya. wahahahaha. and another thing I realized was that siguro naghihirap na talaga sa mundo na feeling ko nasa Divisoria ako sa dami ng tao sa isang sosyal na lugar. buth then again, I realized I was indeed in Alta land 'cause everyone was speaking in US-accented English! IKR! AHAHAHAHA.
hay. Christmas is really just around the corner. and this year,as I am now part of the workforce....I am therefore tasked to buy all the gifts for my family...in behalf of my mom and dad....and I feel a sense of impending doom. *echo* doom.doom.doooooom. and in the absence of kaperahan.... I just don't know how I'll manage with this impending...kagastusan...kagastusan...KAGASTUSAN (in pure caps lock for more!)
my thoughts are once again lost as my computer automatically shut off...so, I'll let HTGOF tell you all about our funny adventures in Alta-land with her Louis Vuitton wallet and Queen Elizabeth necklace...buth before I end this blog, let me tell you about our cameo appearance...in a wedding video! AHAHAHAHAHA.
as we were passing by the sosyal church para bumalik sa car ni Ms. Tingle Bell narinig namin ang sound of Pachelbel's Canon in D playing in the background...and HTGOF and I like the stalkers that we were, peered into the semi open door of the church to make silip some wedding going on amidst the biggest bazaar in the South. and for more...pag ikot namin sa may entrance ng church, ANO! the bride was there outside. Ohemgeeeee. At nagsimula na kami mag Ahihihihihihihi ni HTGOF while Ms. Tingle Bell and Ms. Earth were so mortified they left us alone to gape and gawk and wonder how this bride to be feels at that moment. yung tipong nasa labas ka na ng simbahan, naka-amba ng iladlad sa yo ang veil and for more....bubukas na ang pinto!!!!! ooooooooooooooh. sigh. sigh.siiiiiiiiiigh. after which narealize namin ni HTGOF na masyado na kaming nagstastare kaya inantay lang namin magsimula maglakad si Bazaar Bride Barbie at nagsimula muling mag Ahihihihihi sa likod niya sabay excuse me sa mga videographer. AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.and for more! may some ulan na nagaganap habang nangyayari lahat ito! AHAHAHAHA.
nakakaloka. life's funny moments. hope this week is filled with these for MORE....happiness!

happy forgetful hour
Everyday since I started working I always almost forget something important to bring with me or I totally forget to bring it. Then one day, I rode a jeep and mga 10 steps away from the sakayan...oooops. wala akong pambayad. dahil wala akong wallet. so i suddenly exclaim sa jeep na ...."Para po! PARAAAAAAAAAAAAAA! wala po akong wallet!" and hurriedly jumped down to run like the wind dahil malalate na ako. Then yesterday, when I was like half a meter from the mothership ay narealize ko na.."Shoooooooot! wala akong cellphone." BOOOOOOOOOOO. at hindi ko na sya mababalikan IKR! dahil malalate ako. so, for the remainder of the day, I lived as if I were an office person in the 90's na walang telepono. Saaaaaaaaaaad. So I got through the day by telling myself that noong unang panahon ganoon sa mundo. walang cellphone cellphone. at walang mga txt! thus, began my amazing race to 5 pm.
Everyday din, since I started working, nafeel ko ang rush ng pag-aabang ng 5 pm. something I never ever looked forward to before kasi wala namang ganoon sa shore. AHAHAHAHAHA. parang pagpatak ng 5 or ng time na matapos namin lahat ng pts e meron kang time...to do....anything! tumunganga, matulog, manood ng tv, manggulo ng kapitbahay, kaibigan, etc. So when I suddenly go into carabao mode aka wallowing-in-self-pity-over-the-most-pathetic-things I think of life after 5.
at ngayon, ang aking life after 5 ay ang tumunganga sa tapat ng computer at magbasa ng wall. AHAHAHAHAHAHA.dahil may pasok ako bukas. buti nalang bukas...life after 2 lang! AHAHAHAHAHA.

pasko...paksiw...pasko...paksiw...
i can feel the start of kapaskuhan in the air...literally. in fairness, maginaw na sa umaga pag labas ng bahay! parang ref pagka nakalowest setting ng cool. abroad na abroad ang feeling...and then...you walk out to the road and get splattered with flying dust! for a dose of reality na...nasa Pilipinas ka! AHAHAHAHAHAHA.
tapos sa TV puro countdown to Christmas and then may mga christmas decor, christmas kape, christmas krushers from KFC, polar bear na sumasayaw sa tv at christmas themed commercials na ubod ng JINARTS! like this kid giving the poor boy with a parol instant noodles. a few days ago nung nasa jeep ako, may sumakay na little drummer boy as in batang G aka gusgusin with a little drum and dirty white envelopes na nanghihingi ng money. and then this lady gives him candy at ayaw niya! dahil gusto daw niya...PERA! kaloka. omg. at sya pa ang kumuha ng envelope niya at bumaba sa jeep na nanenega. AHAHAHAHA.
anyhoo, must read the new guidelines on DM again kasi nababangag na ako sa mga IFG, IGT, DM. in fairness, ngayon ko lang naeexperience magkaroon ng patients na ang FBS ay mga 6.3 at mga Hba1c na mga 8. I remember I had this patient before na may Hba1c of 21. at ayun, na-ER kasi nag DKA. and for more, newly diagnosed siya. iba rin pala kapag nakikita mo sila ng pwede pang maprevent mag ka DM. nakakatuwa naman din pala....ng slight. up until the fact na biglang mababasa mo ang protocol ng barko na bawal ang mga diabetic. automatic unfit. MAJOR MAJOR BOOOO. kawawa naman.
in other news, I was going through my news feed sa facebook at nakita ko ang isang string version ng Just the Way You Are by Bruno Mars.
BOTD: Aaaaaaaah. Wala po eh.
And then after the PE he goes, dok, pag ikakasal ka na ha! kunin mo kami. bibigyan talaga kita ng discount! ito ang website namin. www.&@*(@(*$@.com, ano po pangalan niyo? ibibigay ko sa office namin. at ang tanging naisagot ko ay isang napakalakas na AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHA.

first aid...
the past week has been a gloomy one for me. personally I blame it on day 14 aka hormonal overdrive while the ever-wise Ate Smoketh told me it stems from : dissatisfaction. and if you think about it, objectively (take note may keyword dapat dahil for sure there are a lot of little nitpicky things you can get irritated about in life), there is nothing to be dissatisfied about. I guess this dissatisfaction comes from being alone in a foreign land. AHOOOOOY. hahahaha.
gloominess actually started last monday. siguro totoo nga yung pamahiin na dapat laging masaya ang monday or else magiging nega ka the entire week. then I went into ministop near the mother ship only to find out that they have no panukli for my 15 peso purchase. then for some crazy reason my hormones took over and I got so nega over the fact that I have to be the one to remedy their problem of having no frickin change. AHAHAHA. sounds so pathetic when I type it out IKR! hindsight is indeed 20/20...too bad at that time...gumana ang myopia ko na 20/250! AHAHAHAHAHAHA. in short. negahan portion. suffice it to say na hanggang ngayon hindi pa ako ulit bumabalik sa ministop na iyon.
then the next day was a holiday and I was happy until natapos na ang time space warp bigla. after that wednesday sucked because there were just too many damn people leaving the Philippines to ride cruise ships and tankers that I got a little tired. hahaha. then the next day came and I went on leave to fix my Eth-eth-eth number and walked the streets of Ayala Land! like in the movies! hahahahaha. Friday came at last and though I was excited cause it was the weekend I felt sad kasi nga I miss being around my friends....and they were far away in the shore while I was onboard the mother ship! separation anxiety level.
to help me through the week, I went online, chatted with friends, wrote haikus, read blogs, and facetimed (is there such a word?!?!?! ahahaha. ka-level ng spine-spell!) with Ate Smoketh and SAFM cause HTGOF still has jetlag. hahaha. and now for more, I facetimed again far, far, away with Ate Enjh and Ate Smoketh. Nothing like comic index friends/posi ranting receivers to get you through random bursts of jinarts brought about by the ups and downs of our profession and of course...life in general. AHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.
and now I'm here blogging cause sayang ang oras at bawal pa makain ng time space warp. AHAHAHA. in my super short blog earlier from my phone I recounted this experience in the shrine where I saw our future selves...turns out...marami pala sila at hindi lang tatlo and for more...they're doctors too from the philippines who migrated somewhere else...and now, they were having a reunion. and what struck me is the fact that their being together is enough for them to burst into random bursts of kita-ngalangala level of laughter! ito yung literal na AHAHAHAHAHA. kabingihan level talo ang koryans! and their giddiness and laughter over all their random stories about their practice, of Pacquiao, their vacations, their children, their rants, though experienced separately in different lands pa for more....ay nagiging pinakanakakatawa in the midst of friends. I guess Pinoys are really experts in faking it till they make it. AHAHAHAHAHA.in fairness, SIU ok na ok ang faking it till they make it regarding happiness in life.
so this weekend is dedicated to that. to feel happy despite adversity. to appreciation of little things like the number of salons I pass by on the way to the mother ship and crazy names I've encountered. to watch happy movies like sound of music for the 100Mth time with your parents after seeing that reunion show in Oprah (which btw, reduced us to tears). to laugh and catch up with friends. to read and write blogs. to play with my dogs.to listen to really old songs pag sunday habang naglilinis sa bahay.to watch all my downloaded TV series and movies. to grocery and cook some super easy dish like lucky me pancit canton. AHAHAHAHAHAHA. and to make sure to keep all these little bits of happiness in one place for you to use at random times during the upcoming week ahead.
gloominess actually started last monday. siguro totoo nga yung pamahiin na dapat laging masaya ang monday or else magiging nega ka the entire week. then I went into ministop near the mother ship only to find out that they have no panukli for my 15 peso purchase. then for some crazy reason my hormones took over and I got so nega over the fact that I have to be the one to remedy their problem of having no frickin change. AHAHAHA. sounds so pathetic when I type it out IKR! hindsight is indeed 20/20...too bad at that time...gumana ang myopia ko na 20/250! AHAHAHAHAHAHA. in short. negahan portion. suffice it to say na hanggang ngayon hindi pa ako ulit bumabalik sa ministop na iyon.

name dropping!
i have been feeling gloomy lately and so I took the advice of a dear friend and tried to be happy by faking it till i make it...and my source of glee for today's toxic day (where we examined almost 200 pts) are their names. I remember when I was in high school we read this essay in English class about how this British guy was amazed by the names Filipinos gave their kids...tuwang tuwa sya/ slash tawang tawa sa mga pangalang paulitulit gaya ng Junjun, Lengleng...at mga pangalang may H at some place like Jhunjhun! AHAHAHAHAHA. and today, I felt like British guy. Smiling to myself as I read out my patient's names. One of which was called Mr. Ocray....at totoo niyang pangalan iyan.
and then, for more entertainment, my other patient was named...Ginglebert! at sabi niya ang pangalan niya ay from that sikat na singer nung 60s yun daw karibal ni Tom Jones. So when I got home, I asked my dad kung sino karibal ni Tom Jones na may -bert sa dulo ng pangalan...at sabi niya aaaaaaaaah...Si Engelbert Humperdink. at dahil doon...naconclude ko na....may sensorineural hearing loss ang mommy ni Ginglebert!
then my other patient comes and his name is so hard to pronounce and to spell it's like Russian...like Thinje! and I was so tempted to ask him kung ano nickname niya..pero wala na kasing oras at ang dami pang kelangan tingnan. hehehehe.
so I go forth and examine patient after patient as I remember all the amazing names of people I've met in my lifetime...smiling to myself from time to time like a lunatic! I remember nung grade school we had these schoolmates who were named after chocolates like Hershey's, Kisses and Hugs.Someone was even named Anne Klein! As in first name niya ang Anne Klein. Then nung high school life was funnier...with my PE teacher being named Beth...with the surname Joven, and I met people who had amazing surnames like Cabag, Cagatan, Sampayan...and for more there were people named after cities like San Francisco...apelido niya ay Francisco at first name niya ay San. For mooooore!!!!! Then I went to UP and found that people didn't have that much crazy names there. the closest was my friend's sister who got married to a Ngo, but was previously an Oba. So ngayon....ayuuuuuuuuun! napapasmile ka talaga after. such small moments of glee. I then remembered this urban legend (though accdg to some sources may some katotohanan daw) in med about this lady doctor who had King as her surname and was being courted by someone named Dr. Kong. *cue in corny laughter at the corniness of this joke! IKR!*
and then as I was nearing the end of examination I came across one of the unforgettable surnames I'll see...kalevel ng bagonggahasa...was....Cinacsac! o dba? ahaha. at tawang tawa pa siya sabihin ang name niya sa akin. heehee. so at least dito kay patient may some art of med na naganap sa pagiinvestigate ko kung ok lang ba sa kanya ang apelido niya...to which he replied...e yun po ang bigay ng Diyos eh, kaya tinanggap ko po ng maluwag. Ahoooooooooy.
haay. sabi nga nila life is hard. so at times when you feel down it is important to find something that will keep you going...and for some strange reason today, despite the craziness...I was very much comforted by the funny names and their equally funny personalities. hahaha. so ngayon at least I feel a little bit lighter.
and for more katatawanan pag-uwi ko, palabas sa some unknown obscure TV channel ang isang teenage girl na parang vj with the name....Bon Jovi. hahahahaha.

Sad,sad,sad
sabi nila, If you claim it...you will get it! So kanina, I claimed that today was going to be a great day! Then I went on to start my day...and looking back parang parehas lang naman siya ng normal na araw, ngunit ngayon, parang lahat nalang ng bagay ay nakakalungkot slash nakakairita. I tried texting my mom in the morning only to find out that wala na akong load. And then patients started arriving and I started interviewing them...at biglang pagbukas ng pinto...this African-American guy comes in and I am feeling all the blood rush to my head dahil kelangan kong i-English ang buong history and PE! at omg. pinakamahirap itranslate ang explanation kung paano masesense kung may hernia ka...kasi hindi niya alam ang hernia.
BOTD: Sir, have you had a hernia before?
Black Eyed Peas: What's a hernia? (in pure kain kain na english)
BOTD: What was that again sir?
Black Eyed Peas: I don't know what a hernia is. How will I know if I have one?
At nagsimula ng maghemorrhage ang utak ko. for BT STAT. pls extract blood for XM! ummm...aaah...It is when...you...aaah......you...*sheesh ano nga ba ang bumubukol?* feel a sensation of something falling in your ...*sheesh ano nga ba ang singit sa english?!?!?!* ..uummmm..GROIN! *THANK YOU LOOOOOOOORD!*
after mga 20 minutes...natapos ko din siya i-examine. at pinakanapagod ako sa pagsasabi ng inhale, exhale. at for more, I was so tempted to test for fremiti para lang magamit ko ang sinasabi sa bates na "thirty three."
Then nung hapon naman I was looking at patients who needed extra laboratory tests. Then, his urinalysis shows pyuria of 10-15! and then Mr. Clean demands to know how in the world he has pyuria when he is the cleanest person in their house, their cabin in the boat, etc. At nainspire ako bigla ng aking mga shore experiences and I went on to explain that the bladder is like a drum of water....filled with wiwi! And when the drum is full of water and is stagnant, nagkakaroon ng germs, germs, GERMS! in fairness, bumenta naman kay Mr. Clean at pumayag rin syang mag antibiotic. grabe. 30 mins ding pagpapaliwanag yon tungkol sa drum at sa tubig, at sa ihi.
Then afternoon came and I learned that I will not have dollar signs on my eyes because...becoth! I have no frickin EthEthEth/SSS number....SSS= sad, sad, sad. and then, I went home to find that there is no food. no FOOOOOOOOOD. I check my phone and see I have no signal. I go on the internet and find that my friends are offline. And so I am sad, sad, sad.
siiiiiiiiiiiiigh.

of weekends and upcoming rewards...
When I started clerkship, I realized one very important thing. Weekends are like those reward things you get in Survivor when you won a challenge (like immunity idol or necklace or something ayon kay SAFM!) Since then, I started cherishing every weekend off, every Sat or Sun where I can get time to sleep in, eat, sleep, watch tv, sleep, internet, sleep. AHAHAHA.
Another thing I realized is that time is in hyper mode pagka weekend. Yung bang, pag gising mo...oooh 7 am. and then pagtingin mo ulit sa relo, sheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeesh. 12nn na. and then! and then! after what seems like an hour, you look again to see that 4 pm na...BIGLA. and then...before you know it, gabi na....and then...for more sadness...tapos na ang weekend. HAHAHAHA. parang kulang ang oras!
And now, I suddenly look at the clock and it is freaking 9 pm. IKR! hay...talk about blog imitating life. AHAHAHAHA. so, Pacquiao won another world title! my dad opened the TV really early today dahil ayon sa balita 8am daw ang start ng game. at dahil wise ako...ang binuksan ko ay facebook. ( where you will find not just updates buth comments about suot ng mga nanonood!)..so,I refreshed the home page every hour looking for people to post FB statuses related to the man of the hour. IKR! OMG. what's up with pinoy males and boxing?!?!?! hahaha. and then updates started coming and before you know it...OOOH. panalo si pacquiao! and for more...hindi pa rin nagstastart ang telecast sa pinoy TV! WTF? ahahaha.
And then natulog ako at for more time space warps...biglang hapon na. Therefore, there is a new realization that thou shall not sleep at any time the sun is up during the weekend for maximal weekend time! Ni hindi ko pa napapanood ang aking newly downloaded...*wait for it*...The Social Network! AHAHAHAHAHA. hay. sana parating weekend. para pwedeng magluto, mag-grocery, tumunganga, mag-abang kung may lumabas na number mo sa lotto...which btw, walang lumabas!!!!! at of course, magblog. ahahahaha.
Tomorrow is the start of another week. And for more, I will be starting the week alone because my friends from the shore who used to work in the clinic are now going back to the shore...and I am stuck with the dough boy! Time to grow up and bloom where I am currently planted...buth...what I'm looking forward to the most is the fact that...tomorrow is the 15th! WOOHOO! heeeheeheee. hopes for returns that will make my eyes go kaching-kaching! AHAHAHA.

sucky, spontaneous fun!
I was passing by the lotto stall near our house to see it semi-filled with people. As I was nearing, naisip kong...bakit hindi kaya ako tumaya? for fun. and so, my spontaneous moment for the day ay ang pagtaya sa Lotto 6/55...na parang...scantron! AHAHAHAHAHA. wonder if I will be able to buy the island after Saturday. heeheehee. and yes, evil twin HTGOF, we can share the island for more! :)
I am slowly getting used to what I'm doing right now...in fairness. Medyo nababawas bawasan ang jinarts mode. AHAHAHA. I realized how I missed being able to eat with my family and listen to my mother's English...
Mom: Anak, mag-exercise ka naman! Ang dami mo ng cellulite! AS IN!
BOTD: Talaga? That sucks!
Mom: Sucks? Ano ibig sabihin ng that sucks?
BOTD: Ibig sabihin...nakakainis.
Mom: Oh! Bago yan ah! So pag sasabihin ko...nakakainis ka...pwede ko sabihin...SUCK YOU!
BOTD: AHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. *hyperventilate* AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.
Mom: Bakit ka natatawa? *taps foot*
BOTD: E kasi dapat...you suck! Ano ba yan! AHAHAHAHAAHA. *tears in eyes*
Mom: Aaaaaaaaaah. E pag gusto ko sabihin na...bakit ka ba naiinis sa akin...tama ba na...Why are you sucking me?
BOTD: ROFL. AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. *hyperventilatesx10* AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.
Mom: Bakeeeeeeeeeeeet? Mali na naman? Sige nga...itranslate mo nga yan! Aber? *taps foot again*
BOTD: Teka...uhmmmm....aaaah... ano! Why are you irritated with me?
BOTD: AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.
It is at these moments that I am glad to be home. :)

bartolina...
i wanted to write something profound today. buth my thoughts are running fast in my mind like that puddle of baha draining down the canal my umbrella got thrown into earlier. buti nalang nakuha ko ang payong amidst that pool of leptospire-infected water. and ngayon...abulia mode na naman ako.
so goodbye muna sa pagiging deep today. sleep is calling. i wanted to write something long. about me forgetting things. about me prescribing fibrates for the first time. remembering that sa new world hindi pwedeng ikebs ang 1-3 pus cells at 2x elevated na transaminases. moving up sa level ng plants vs zombies. lonely life after 5. computer time=socializing time. facetime with my sisses. and thought bubbles inside thought bubbles.
solitary confinement. not a very happy place. :(

lessons from the sea...farers...
edited this kasi parehas na parehas pala ang intro ko sa last blog entry ko. haha. aaaaaaaaand for more variation...I somehow survived my first week...abroad. I've met a sommelier, a violinist, chief cooks, waitresses, waiters, crew activity specialists, seamen, able seamen ( IKR! this is different from the ordinary seaman...in what manner, I wouldn't know!), messmen (na akalain mo...nagtratrabaho sa MESS HALL! AHAHAHAHA), officers, bartenders, room assistants and realized....sobrang daming gustong umalis ng Pilipinas. OMG. at marami silang storyang pang MMK na minsan hindi mo gusto marinig pero they just blurt it out in the midst of your pagtatanong ng....nagkaroon na po ba kayo ng High Blood, Diabetes, Tuberculosis, naoperahan, napauwi sa mga rasong medikal, naospital, natahi, nagkaroon ng luslos? (all in one breath in rapid fire tagalog)
and suddenly ang patient kong Girl na Boy (GnB) ay sinabing...Dok, alam niyo po ba ang pelikulang In My Life?
Me: *hingal hingal portion sa haba ng tanong while wondering if there is a point to this pampahaba ng interview* Opo.
Me: Ano doon? yung may cancer? (Halatang alam na alam! I think...ANO! hahahaha)
GnB: Hindi po! Yung nasagasaan ng van? Na-ganoon po ako. Sa US din! Ang galing ko no?
at wala na akong nasabi kundi...
Me: Oo nga po. *ang galing niya nga!*
In fairness, clinic patients are a great source of entertainment and small realizations. hahaha. They say yung mga pasahero daw ng cruise ship dalawang klase lang...either...matatanda na retirees or yung mga sobrang sikat at mayayaman (na walang magawa sa pera) AHAHAHA. Then, I remember seeing Violin Boy inside the PE room and then....pagpasok niya, I was like...OMG! may na-meet akong totoong nagvi-violin sa mga barko...like those orchestra people in Titanic! Pero eto ka...sanay na daw si Violin Boy doon dahil...he used to play for the Philippine Philharmonic Orchestra. Gustong gusto ko sumigaw ng sample a la Showtime....buth I remembered...magpapamedical pala siya at hindi mag-a-audition! AHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. .
Another thing I observed was that our patients ay parang mga pinsan ng mga blood donors sa Blood Bank. May questionnaire na sasagutan at ichecheck lang ang NO sa lahat. and then Wine Expert enters the room with her accomplished form na as predicted, puro NO ang nakalagay. and THEN! I see her position sa ship...Sommelier ang lola! Hahaha.
haaaaaaay. everyday I get to examine around 40 patients who would like to board this giant cruise ship for more....MONEY! and I often ask them, hindi po ba kayo natatakot na magsink yung barko niyo? to which most of them reply...dok, malaki naman po yung barko...walang binatbat ang Super Ferry. and then they laugh like crazy...AHAHAHAHAHA. I also ask them kung kamusta sila pag asa barko sila, at ang kanilang walang mintis na sagot ay...malungkot po doktora...pero ang iniisip nalang namin lagi ay....PERA...PERA...PERA! (for more thought bubbles, this sounds so family! i feel like I'm in some medical show where the patient's mimic my issues and tissues in life!) sabay smile na parang nasa the buzz or in some cases smile na may some sliver of tears pooling in their eyes! ahoooy. at after that day that I tried to put some art of medicine chor-chor to minimize the monotony, I told myself...I will refrain from asking questions like those again. AHAHAHAHA.
and then for more nostalgia, I watched my downloaded version of In My Life with my mother a few hours ago...and found myself laughing and teary eyed again and feeling sad for the terrible state of this country where people have to leave so that their families can eat that same kind of frickin hotdog only the rich and famous can buy here.
and now, moving on from that patriotic chorva that was my last paragraph...okay naman ang unang linggo ko. It was bittersweet. I am happy that I'm in a new world, where the crocs are nice, there is aircon in the hallways, you can wear heels to work and not develop blisters over blisters, there are no charts, you are off at 5 and you have your own time...and for more...makakaipon ka ng pera...but there is that moment after 10M essentially normal patients, when that patient arrives and suddenly tells you he/she has hypertension and diabetes and periods of chest pain, and then you feel that sudden rush of happiness and suddenly feel your mind on autopilot and then para ka ng possessed and you start talking about hba1c and lipid profiles and ecgs, and exercise, diet, importance of compliance to meds etc like it's something hidden deep inside your brain...and suddenly I miss home...where patients are so abnormal they have at least 5 lines in their diagnoses. WAHAHAHA. Feeling ko OFW din ako. AHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.
buth! i think...ano. ahahaha. i need this time to miss it...and be away from it all...to learn new things like gamot sa singaw and things like Steacystoma multiforme (which are just some benign cysts all over one's body) ...for more!
here's to more learning and exciting weeks ahead!

like! *thumbs up*
So, I survived...my first day of work. In a new place where there's aircon, and a table, and a computer, and absolutely NO CHARTS! ahahaha. Life beyond the shore indeed. Luckily for me, medyo konti today ang patients at may some adjustment period na naganap before the chaos that will surely welcome me with a bang tomorrow. Met new people but was ultimately glad to have people of my kind around. AHAHA. parang tribo. pero, I guess that was the most comforting part of being in a new place...knowing that someone there was thinking in the same way you were and can understand your crazy practices.
After work, met up with my friends from the shore who I always wish were like action figures I can put in my bag and talk to when the door to the room in the office is closed. AHAHAHAHAHA. parang autistic ang theme. As we pondered and exclaimed about the beauty of the friendship feature on facebook, I realized nagsisimula ng maging iba ang aming mga experiences. parang when you meet up with your high school friends, and all you can talk about is something medical, while they talk about something about life that is not medical...and then you realize...omg. hindi pala sila yung friends ko from PGH. siiiiiiiiiigh. *insert jinarts music* and for more a few weeks back you were once like them....and the stories you tell were something they experienced...and you wish with all your heart that they be able to experience this new craziness you're feeling kasi ang weird weird...and then...you know they wouldn't know kasi they're not with you. Haaaaaaaaaay. ang arte. SUKA ALL OVER. can't believe this kaartehan spouting from my utak. basta ang point ay for some reason, nakakatakot din pala na one day magkita kayo at wala na kayong pag-usapan ng mga friends mo. BUTH! Buth! with my crazy friends from the shore...I think...ANO! ahahaha. we will seldom have a hard time thinking of a topic to talk about cause there is always the "Sinong bading?" stories and our newest hobby...facetime...and facestalking together! AHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.

its a doggie dog world...
just came home from a long day at the cemetery...and learned new things...like...bawal ang aso sa sementeryo. So, we prepared early for our yearly trip sa panteon and aside from the food, upuan, banig, atbp ay dinala namin muli si Dolly sa sementeryo. only to be stopped by the big policemen at the gate of the cemetery. At nabaliw na ang mommy ko sa pageexplain na Dolly is the sweetesth dog ever in existence and she does not bark, bite or do anything except magpacute at magpose sa camera. AHAHAHAHAHA. so ayun, kinuhanan ng GMA news habang nakasabit sakin ang aso. OMG. after which we were ushered to the side and I calmly told kuya cameraman to just video the dog and not me. AHAHAHAHAHA. and then Dr. Tita comes and tells us that she has extensionitis powers and that we can smuggle Dolly inside basta nasa loob sya ng bag. so tinakpan sya ng nanay ko ng some bag at sinabihang...WAG KANG KAKAHOL! ahahahaahhaha.and so nakarating din ang aso sa panteon ng lolo ko. AHAHAHA. after which we covered her in a payong and made her tago. AHAHAHA. personally, i find it so absurd that they ban doggies sa sementeryo...parang 10 dogs ang naharang ng pulis at lahat sila mga sosyal na aso...pero yung babaeng nagbebenta ng colored sisiw pwede pumasok at yung mga gumagalang askal ay ok lang gumala. haaaaaaaaaaay nakerrrrrrrr.
moving on...while walking to the cemetery, I see the common stalls around selling food, pizza, donuts, and ngayon ang bagong patok, ice scramble na mukhang malinis, and there is also that pink upright kabaong where you can take your pictures for free. IKR! buth I am still not sick enough to enter that pink kabaong so I passed on the picture taking. AHAHA. at ang mahal mahal ng mga pagkain sa sementeryo like a shawarma costs 50 frickin pesos! buti nalang may dala kaming pagkain...at lutuan. AHAHAHA.
so for the day, my mom was indisposed cause she was tasked to hide the dog and my pamangkins were hungry and now I discovered a new talent. COOKING HOTDOGS! ahahahaha. in fairness...sobrang gutom ng mga pamangkin ko, they were able to finish up 2 kilos of hotdogs in one sitting. OMG. AHAHAHAHA. the entire day... luto lang ako ng luto ng hotdog. at kain lang sila ng kain IKR. parang after, "ninang, luto ka pa hotdog....tita gusto ko pa ng hotdog...tita wala na bang hotdog?" So, I even had to go out and buy raw hotdog so that I can cook moooooooore hotdogs kasi gutom pa sila. AHAHAHAHAHA.
after stuffing ourselves with food, it was now time to pray...and I felt the changing times once again dahil kami na ng nanay ko ang naga-argue kung ang response ay have mercy on the souls of all in purgatory or have mercy on the souls in purgatory (for less kapaguran portion IKR!). ahaha.

anyhoo. after 8 hours of cooking, going around my lolo and Tito J's panteon, we finally went home. and I immediately checked GMA to see if they were gonna show Dolly on TV with her hat!
and tomorrow is my first day of work. AHOOOOY. hope it will go well! weeee. feeling ko pasukan bukas at lumipat ako ng school...kind of like my first day in high school where my parents sent me off and then I went in...and saw....the Blairs and Serenas of Metro Manila. AHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. and then for more katatawanan ay bumalik ako sa entrance ng school at sinabi ko sa magulang ko...OMG. hindi ko ata kaya. and then tinulak na ako ng nanay ko paloob and the rest is history dahil 4 years after I graduated from that institution armed with faith and impeccable English! AHAHAHAHA.

freaky sunday
Yesterday my nephews and nieces trotted off outside for their annual trick or treat around the barangay...and hours before that they were knocking on our door asking us for really BIG plastic bags where they can put their candy for later. AHAHA. Hoarders talaga kami lahat. AHAHAHA...and as my cousins and I helped out with their preparations we remembered the Halloweens of our past in pure Lola Basyang mode and realized....we never thought of halloween as a time to trick or treat. At pag nasa sementeryo na, it's time to bring out our baong pansit, card games, guitars, board games, and our annual game of palakihan ng naipong napagtuluan ng kandila! Then, pag-uuwi na...my lola aka as Nanay will lead the prayer...in LATIN! so we don't understand at Amen lang kami ng Amen.
I recently attended an RTD with Dr. Tita promoting some milk and the lecturer was telling us dati daw pag tinuturuan ang mga bata magbasa, they spell out the letter first...like b-a-g...BAG. Ngayon daw, they say it by syllables...like ba-a-ga....and then na-windang kami ng tita ko!
So this Halloween weekend, lahat ng palabas sa TV ay some horrorific ang theme...so I avoided each and every horror movie shown only to watch....2012. and I got frickin scared at the start kasi naisip ko what if magugunaw na talaga ang mundo at buhay pa ako! OMG. that's so scary. it's like being trapped in a sinking boat like Titanic...and all you can do is wait for death. eeeeeek. and then after nila sirain ang lahat ng landmarks sa mundo at napredict ko na kung sino ang magkakatuluyan, mamatay, at mabubuhay sa pelikula ay nafeel ko na nanonood ako ng something like Titanic + Independence Day + Noah's Ark + Revelations+ Wall-E! AHAHAHAHA. kulang nalang either paglabas nila ay either dagat ng basura or may some dove with an olive branch! and now, I'm here blogging about the pathetic-ness of my takot.
And then, I switch to this news channel which tells me it's exactly 55 days before Christmas. I can feel it! IKR! and the point of all this intro is that I have a new word c/o Dr. Tita who was recently invited to Starbucks by her friends. Since hindi naman sya nagpupunta doon ay hindi niya alam what to order. So she asks the barista...Ano bang masarap?
Dr. Tita: ah...yung sinabi mo kanina yung Mocha Crap nga.
and then...when Dr. Tita arrives home she proudly declared she went to Starbucks and ordered Mocha Crap! AHAHAHAHAHAHA. and then I told her, Ano po inorder niyo...and she goes: bakit ba lahat tanong ng tanong kung ano inorder ko...at ang sagot ko ay...kasi..wala po kasing mocha crap sa starbucks. AHAHAHAHAHA.
Dr. Tita: Meron!
Me: Tita kasi...yung Crap ibig sabihin noon...dumi! as in dumi ng kung ano man.
AHAHAHAHAHA.
Happy Halloween! :)

edge of solitude...
I remember all the times I shopped for clothes with my mother (this is starting to sound like joy luck club! AHAHAHAHAHA) ...and like the progressive mom that she proclaims she is...she allows me to go out there in divisoria (where clothes are always on sale!) and look for clothes on my own...with her trailing after me. BUTH! as I start picking up hangers of clothes, I start to look at her nonverbal cues to see if she approves what I'll get.
Then, yesterday, in my continued quest of being grown up, I ventured into the land of all sales and sweat alone and trotted to 168 to buy myself grown up clothes. IKR! and then I had to exercise deciding to choose this or choose that without my mom's raised eyebrow or fake cough or scowl to show her thumbs down status! AHAHAHAHA. mahirap pala magshopping mag-isa. what more...mag-isa sa divisoria! AHAHAHAHAHAHA. buth it was fun as I didn't have to trail after her while she meticulously looked at each and every stall and ask me 1M times, "anak, dinaanan na nga ba natin ito?" and for more there's even this newly opened section of the mall that made me want to reverse my shirt a lot of times dahil pabalik balik lang ako sa mga ibang stalls! AHAHA.
furthermore...I ate lunch alone in the ginormous food court of 168. now I know why people don't really like eating alone in a crowded places, like...a mall. AHAHA. it's just too sad. you just sit there and eat and watch everyone around you eating with someone else and talking. It's like being in those high school shows at ikaw yung outcast AHAHAHAHAHAHA. pero ang pinakamasaya ay pwede kang mag-people watch (this sounds so pathetic when I'm writing it...but sooo much fun when I'm doing it)...I recommend it once a month for more...pagjijinarts! like watching a movie alone. I think it's therapeutic for people like me who like to talk a lot...dahil para kang nagsi-silent retreat! kasi...hindi ka pwedeng magtalk a lot by yourself...unless...you know...gusto mo ma-ward7!
tomorrow I'm going to have an orientation for my new job and I feel scared again. kung pwede ko lang dalhin lahat ng friends ko sa bldg...buth then again CTB is there and Pillsbury Dough Boy aka PBD for mooooore! if HTGOF has life after the overlap, I have life beyond the shore. AHAHAHAHA.
and to end, here's another crazy term from my mother...
Me: bakit?
Me: inch? anong inch?
Me: Ma....Edge yun! EDGE!
ahahahahahaha. one day I will write a dictionary...full of terms and witty lines passed on to me. haha.

never say never
I once said that I wanted to be a doctor because I can never see myself in an office job, working 8-5 everyday in an office in say...Makati. Oh, life must be laughing at me at this very moment. Laughing like....
AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHA. silence. AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.
My first job was a total experience. Something I never thought I would do in my profession. I'm not really good with kids, kaya nga Pedia is one of those specialties I immediately crossed off my list of differentials and imagine my surprise and horror when I realized that my first job would be with kids! Magpopose ka with kids and answer their questions on handwashing habang nagpapapicture sila sa doctor (in costume with a Jollibee level mascot na doctor din with my fake OR sa likod na mas malinis pa sa...LCB ahahahahaha) and after that you'll watch them finger paint and remind them to wash their hands...and all these were done...in the middle of the biggest mall (in asia) AHAHAHAHA and for more there was a big stage! A frickin stage with big bowls and soaps at nung pagdating ko takot na takot ako na baka ang pinasukan ko ay kailangan ko magturo ng handwashing a la noontime show!!!!! Hanggang ngayon natatawa pa rin ako dahil nagbasa ako ng CPG on handwashing hahahaha. Even funnier was the question of the kid, "doctor, can that machine really show my brain? (may pic kasi ng MRI dun sa likod ko)" AHAHAHAHA. Looking back, if ever I had the chance to pick my first job again, gagawin ko pa rin ito, not just because of the compensation but because of pure entertainment value! AHAHAHA. You really won't forget your first...job. AHAHAHAHAHA.
and for more slapstick comedy level...kanina nag-apply ako sa isang clinic na nasa isang building sa makati na may 2 elevator. I was supposed to go to the 11th floor...and then dahil hindi ako nagbabasa ang nasakyan kong elevator ay nagseserve lamang ng even numbered floors. So I decided to just get off the 12th floor and use the stairs to go down the 11th floor. pagbaba ko ng elevator may malaking EXIT sign...and so I went straight there and down this door which had the same door as the shortcut doon sa lab sa PG...and then pagdating ko sa 11th floor...ayaw mabukas ang pinto. Then I tried going down the 10th floor and indeed...hindi rin siya bumubukaaaaaaaas! para akong na-WOW mali! AHAHAHA. omg. then I was mortified by the fact that there are security cameras in the bldg at baka nagtataka na sila ano ginagawa ko doon. So I went back to the 11th floor and texted CutthroatBitch aka CTB to open the door. and then, as I was waiting, I hear footsteps coming down the stairs...at natakot ako na baka OMG! baka guard ito at hulihin ako or iescort ako down or whatever. turns out...lost din itong si Manong. hahahahaha. Buti nalang CTB was there to save the day...and four hours later...I am officially employed.
HAHAHAHA. at dahil dyan...life, I am saying that I can never see myself as someone who is unbelievably rich and very successful and super happy in life! AHAHAHAHAHAHA.

downloaded wisdom...
Wisdom is defined by the Oxford Dictionary as the quality of having experience, knowledge, and good judgement. Don't worry, this is not another English writing exercise. It's just...ano...me trying to be wise. AHAHAHAHAHAHA. And the wisdom suddenly ends in this paragraph. *bow*
I have a lot to write about but I don't know how to relate them all together. Then again, sino ba ang nagsabi na kelangan na one blog post a day lang diba? hahaha. Buth, again there comes the BUTH! My thoughts rapidly progress at the speed of light that I can only write a blog post a day unless I'm really depressed....or mad. HAHA. dahil napapagod talaga ako.
Anyhoo, inspiration for this post came from an episode of Grey's Anatomy which occasionally gives me snippets of wisdom despite the fact that the surgeons always use the stethoscopes wrong (like pabaliktad! AHAHA) and sometimes the storylines have 10M medical errors in it. May mga panahon namang nakakapagnilay ka bigla when you watch their episodes, like that burn episode that made me remember the number one rule of thumb in BURN rotation, which was to ALWAYS, ALWAYS check for inhalational injury! Oh and that episode where that doctor got shot in the head kasi nainis sya sa some bantay na tinatanong kung nasaan ang chairman's office....turns out psycho killer pala si bantay...therefore! That episode always gives me chills kasi nung intern ako pwedeng pwedeng ako rin yun.
and so, the point of all that is that this new episode...like a board exam question...spoke to me. AHAHAHA. sabi nung isang doctor doon, "In times like these, the best decision,is actually making a decision. We are doctors, this is what we do....blahblahblah....Congratulations, you were a doctor today." Then I remembered my earlier post during Tito J's decompensation and realized....ooooooooooh...sounds family. then, for moooore wisdom, Meredith Grey says at the end of the episode, "sometimes when we grow up, it means having to leave people behind."
AHOOOOOOOOOOOY.

testing the waters...
I have this weird tendency to keep on going at a certain task even if I'm supposedly done doing it. For example, if I have choir practice from 5-8 pm, I will still be singing till 12 MN. Now, I'm looking at job openings and it is 1:30 am and I am still going at it as if they will not be available tomorrow. Maybe that's why I was drawn to IM, because you always think about your patient's diagnosis, labs, etc. when you are in the hospital. Then, when you go home, you think again. While you sleep, you dream about them. After that, you go back to thinking again because you're back in the hospital and now you're wide awake.
I am not really a risk taker. I was never really good in venturing into the unknown. If I were to be that man in that poem, The Road Not Taken, I would have certainly chosen the road with the most light. I would choose, The Road Always Taken. That's why it's a very hard task for me to go about this new phase in my life. Residency was always that sure track. I have never even considered moonlighting and now, I must do it so that I can have some direction and of course, money. It's such unknown territory that I feel like I'm a non-swimmer dipping my feet into the water to test if I can really move forward. I guess in a way, I'm discovering why I needed to go down this road at this point in time.
My friends tell me that this is such a great opportunity, a chance of a lifetime, to be your own boss and manage your own time. However, at the moment, I feel like I am in that situation where I am absolutely unable to make a fast decision, like choosing a restaurant or fastfood chain to eat at when with friends. I also find myself in an unexplainable state of shyness, again, unable to go out there and ask for help from people who have experienced it before. I guess I am too scared of judgment and my self esteem has plummeted down to the level of the Marianas Trench. There is also that added factor of a family experience of missed opportunities and non-risk taker role models by the bucket.
I think it is indeed time to stop wallowing in my own pit of baseless fears and just keep on going.
aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand CUT!
According to the word count tool in www.wordcounttool.com that was 413 words. I decided to write in straight English to see if I can force my brain to write around 10 articles of straight English for a job I saw online for writing medical articles...in straight English with good grammar...for more! I felt like I just wrote a paragraph for English class...in high school with the theme, "What I did for Summer Vacation!" It's so terrible. I also realized the most important thing of all...I no longer think in English...grabe. I guess, yun ang pinaka-naicontribute sa akin ng UP education ko. Before in AC, I mastered that thinking in English level because everyone was making salita in English you know! HAHAHAHAHA. Gustong gusto ko maginsert ng evil laughter, benefit of the daws, and Melanie Marquez lines...for MOOOOOOOOORE. but I needed to stop myself. therefore...isang pinaka...pa-virg na article ang lumabas. AHAHAHAHAHA. it's so pa-virg, SAO (Suka All Over, from HTGOF's vocabulary).
just came from catching up with my Joe's Pub friends and Comic Index friends where all I did was laugh, copy files, look at job opportunities, talk about pathognomonic signs, wonder how in the world HTGOF doesn't know The Neverending Story, talk about the newest version of The Neverending Story, which is: The Neverending Story 4: Sinong Bading?, and try to convince myself I can speak, write and think in pure, impeccable English...and now, I'm still thinking at 2am. IKR!
Ooooh. at namiss ko rin palang mag-abbreviate ng napakaraming bagay in that earlier exercise. hay, having come from a place where we abbreviate almost any word available...it's really hard to not do it. Siguro, namimiss ko lang talaga ang old life ko...where everything was easy. All you had to do is summed up by 3 words: Duty, Post Duty and Pre duty.
Buth! BUTH! (siguro ito na ang word na pinaka-overused ko sa blog na ito)...sabi nga ng aming source of all wisdom Ate Smoketh, there are just two things needed to move on which for some strange reason is escaping my memory at the moment (siguro dahil 2am na! at malapit na ang moment of pure kasabawan ng utak, which is...3am!)...basta ang essence ay, itigil ang pagjijinarts at never look back. AHAHAHAHA.
here's to more exciting adventures...in the land away from home. :)

happy days...are here again?
after around 4 days of bumming around, a hair spa, pedicure and ten million calories later, I am BACK...again. ahahaha. AHAHAHA. *evil laughter* one just truly needs one's family, friends, and foooooood to get back on track. harhar.
so the past 4 days of freedom has been fun, starting with my crazy conversations with evil twin HTGOF on FB chat, the phonecall from Ms. Tingle Bell where we exchanged our sob stories and told ourselves...we're fine!, my sojourn in the mall during the mallwide sale with The Thinker, meeting Road Rage and the Spawn at Starbucks, the sobfest turned laughing spree with my comfort sisses Ate Smoketh and Ate Enjh, one whole season of Modern Family plus the entire aired episodes of season 2 , impromptu calls from my dearest friends wanting to talk and giving me text hugs, family outings for the first time in 5 friggin years, and tutoring my inaanak/pamangkin Bugs Bunny on 3rd year High School Math and Science (IKR! naghang ang utak ko sa mga theorem and drawing those spdf electron configurations) , trips to the parlor with Dr. Tita and my cousin Ate P...
I am now revived and back again to my crazy, crazy self. ahaha. complete with my laughter...AHAHAHAHAHA.
and while the rain is pouring outside, I go to my friend Google and once again check to see what I can write in my CV. And then...after...I look it over...to see that the section on work experience is absolutely...boring. like internship and then...tapos na. AHAHA. I really need a job. para naman magkalaman.
and then after the cv thing, i imbibed the fresh grad template and started looking for jobs...then I remembered wala kaming dyaryo na pwedeng bilug-bilugan ang mga aapply-an mo gaya ng pinapakita sa mga lumang movies...and therefore...where else will I go but my trusty friend...my most reliable friend...Google! AHAHAHA. and of course, for more social networking... FACEBOOK! haha. at nagsimula na ang pagiisip kung ano na ang gagawin. buth. at this moment. nag-a-abulia na naman ako. masyado na naman ako nabombard ng info. like boards. so i shut down. and opened blogger. harharhar.

you gotta hang on...
life doesn't always turn out how you plan it to be. and after all the triumphs you are faced with another reality...failure. and as I sing Annie's Tomorrow with tears rolling down my cheeks ( for ultimate and pure and utter pag-ji-JINARTS), I know that despite everything...this is a start...a new start. It is time to let go of that house that used to be the life I knew. I will truly miss being a part of that giant hospital at Taft Avenue...where lines are the norm...and patients are endless. It's time to learn new things!!!!
and as I end this day...I'll give life the benefit of the daw...dahil sabi nga nila....YOU CAN NEVER...CAN TELL! AHAHAHA.
The sun'll come out
Tomorrow
Bet your bottom dollar
That tomorrow
There'll be sun!
Just thinkin' about
Tomorrow
Clears away the cobwebs,
And the sorrow
'Til there's none!
When I'm stuck a day
That's gray,
And lonely,
I just stick out my chin
And Grin,
And Say,
Oh!
The sun'll come out
Tomorrow
So ya gotta hang on
'Til tomorrow
Come what may
Tomorrow! Tomorrow!
I love ya Tomorrow!
You're always
A day
A way!

que sera...sera...
recently did grown up things with my grown up friends because we can...which involve...getting an NBI clearance, eating out for fun, making profiles for resumes, interviews for jobs, etc.
started the week with a nerve wracking (sp?) interview, which we spent the past week imagining...with all our crazy scenarios...
Judge #1: So, candidate number 1, in your *insert age here* years of existence, what is the MAJOR mistake you made in your life?
BOTD: ummm...ahhh..my...pamily...family...is...was...are...the major MAJOR inspiration in my life.
Judge #2: So, candidate number 2, aside from your face...what is your problem?
HTGOF: ummm....aaaah...thank you for your kind consideration.
Judge #3: So, candidate number 3, what can you offer our department?
Ms. Tingle Bell: What CAN I offer your department? WHAT CAN I OFFER your department? Let me start by saying...what I CANNOT offer your department...
and then....after making ourselves scared with our crazy scenarios, we then decided on the next most important part...WHAT TO WEAR? so then HTGOF and I consult GOOGLE, our best source for all things unknown, and then see that you have to wear a suit and wear black, navy blue, gray or white, and to wear closed shoes. ooh. and then we had a dilemma again on whether or not we would wear our coats or not, or if we would wear closed shoes or pwedeng peep toe! then I decided that it would really be nice if I could be in the show, Tim Gunn's Guide to Style, where I will transform from a person with no fashion to ProjectRunway LEVEL! AHAHAHA.
aaaaand then, natapos din ang interview...where we were asked the most important question of the moment: WWYD? aka...what will you do? ahaha. and to celebrate the end of all things pre-res, we decided to eat with our fellow PGs aka PatayGutom aka Peanuts and Garlic Group where our dear boss Road Rage demonstrated how he so loved public transportation! ahahaha.
and then we realized...omg. we're growing up. we now talk of things like NBI clearances, TIN numbers, PTRs, drug tests, S2 licenses...and then Ms. Tingle Bell tells us we need to get our NBI clearances ASAP dahil baka may HIT kami. HIT as in may kapangalan kang may kaso sa lipunan.
and so a day after, Ms. Tingle Bell and I set off for Victory Mall in Monumento...one really really LONG LRT ride away...and get ourselves NBI clearances....it's really quite easy. and there are LARGE signs telling you where to go, and reminded us a lot of PRC in EVER Mall. So, we line up, fill up our forms, pay our bills, fingerprint our forms (the NBI people even hold your hand and fingerprint your forms for you! IKR!), have our most unflattering pictures taken by the most NEGA person ever, and line up for the computer ng kapalaran...who will tell you if you have a HIT or not. and then...success, I get my yellow ticket for clearance and suddenly see Ms. Tingle Bell laughing like crazy because she has a...wait for it....HIT! Like does it have to be... all words present or parang 1 out of 3, 2 out of 3, etc. so anyway, we're gonna be back on Monday to clarify all these.
and then, our newest recruiter Ate Smoketh who is currently slaving away in HD, is giving us job offers. oooh. We just loooooooove you Ate Smoketh! Love, HTGOF and BOTD. when we are fellows na, give us din boys! AHAHAHAHA. and so tomorrow,I will be teaching handwashing because my evil twin HTGOF has a visa interview for the land of stars and stripes. and then they ask me to send a profile so i hurriedly message HTGOF on FB and ask for her help cause they simply don't teach us things like how- to- write -a -profile- that -is -not -for -facebook during medschool! and so again, we consult google and look up at sample profiles. ahahaha.
and for even more grown up things. tomorrow...is the day of judgment. for MORE! jitters.jitters.jitters. hope everything goes well. sometimes I feel like we've been in neverland for so long...

quantum leap/back to the future
I have edited this post so many times today. gusto ko kasi magblog. pero wala naman akong masulat na matino. binasa ko na nga ang earlier entries ko. at I'm happy to say, napagtawanan ko na ang craziness ko during internship, ang BRP ko during the preboards and boards period at ang mania ko before lumabas ang board results...at pagkatapos binasa ko ang mga blog entries ng mga friends ko and I read this entry by the frog princess about living the dream. Then I remembered Sir Willy's commenth about after reaching the shore you'll just feel like a lumot.
And at this moment...lumot na lumot ang feeling ko. parang tinatangay lang ng alon, walang direksyon...(well, that is habang nagaantay ng interview and the results for residency).
at habang ako'y nagmumuni muni, at nagpapaka-deep...I closed the window of blogger and found myself face to face with my wallpaper which are the cute and crazy messages of my nephews and nieces when i passed the boards....na meron pang Dear Ninang, wag mo ko kalimutan gamutin! AHAHAHA.
at dahil dyan, naalala ko ang aking childhood dreams...or rather dream jobs...
Naaalala ko nung 4 years old ako gusto ko maging cashier kasi nakaupo ka lang tapos may pera ka dun sa iyong cash register. Dati yun pa yung aking toy na I most wanted to have...aside from that giant little tyke's play houses na noong panahon yon ay kasing halaga ng isang netbook ngayon! AHAHAHA. I also wanted to have that faker cash register with the play money. Grabe! Batang bata pa lang mukha ng pera! IKR! I remember even making fake receipts ahahaha.
Tapos nung 6 ako, nagkaroon ako ng change of heart.
BOO. and then, I remember always trying to find a way to enter my tita's clinic to see how these babies come out from mommies...pero magaling ang mga guwardiya...aka nanay ko at mga tita kong iba. hindi ko nakita until high school na ako, sa PGH! AHAHAHA. for some career field trip.
Bag, ballpen, prescription pad, coloring book, free crayons, tissue paper...name it! I had it! AHAHAHA. tapos sabi pa ni Dr. Tita sa akin nanggagamot sila ng TB. at in my pure kabataan akala ko ang tuberculosis ay TV...at dahil doon ay pinagpilitan ko pang tingnan ang TV at magchannel surf nung day na yun kasi sabi ko...
at sabi ko....OMG. ang saya saya naman maging kagaya ni Dr. Tita! and from then on sabi ko...OMG. magiging doctor ako paglaki ko. at syempre tuwang tuwa ang lahat at hinahayaan nila akong mag-ilusyon na doctor ako complete with my faker stethoscope, faker neurohammer, and the ultimate faker prescriptions sa mga libreng prescription pad na mukhang checker sa cashier ang gumawa...yung may malaking S at bilog bilog pa...with matching stamp...ng animals! AHAHAHAHAHAHA.
then nung 8 years old ako, pangarap kong makapasok ng airport. maging airport personnel. para nasa airport lagi. maging stewardess para sumakay ng airplane. inggit na inggit kasi ako dati sa mga pinsan kong tiga-abroad na laging mukhang mga sosyal. dahil sila nakakapasok sa airport habang ako nakakapit dun sa grills sa labas ng departure area at nagwawave lang habang sila ay unti-unting nagdidisappear into the airplane. tapos ang galing kasi pagtawag nila sa bahay the next day...they're a million miles away! in some foreign land. AHAHAHA.
and then at 10 years old, I discovered I loved science and dinosaurs and flora and fauna at dahil doon sabi ko....ayoko na magdoctor...magiging scientist na lang ako or archaeologist. tapos nung nagpuberty narealize ko na pangboy pala ang mga ganitong larangan...at sabi ko...magdodoctor nalang ako ulit. mas pang-girl yun! si Dr. Tita nga...doctor siya! at girl sya!
tapos naghigh school at winish ko na maging ice skater, maging pianist, maging dancer, maging cheerleader (IKR! gag! puke! eeeww!), maging singer, maging mayaman, maging scientist at maging doctor. o diba! kasing dami ng mood swings ng puberty ang dami ng aspirations! ahahaha. then naadik ako sa show na ER at XFiles at sabi ko...I wanna be a doctor na ulit. then came college applications at sabi ng mga tao Bio daw dapat ang kinukuha ng mga magmemed. sabi ko...it's the best! magiging scientist ako at magiging doctor...two out of the 10M! pwede na.
and then fast forward that to 9 years later and here I am. AHAHAHA. at for some time in my life nagpakascientist din ako at natuwang magmemorize ng mga scientific name ng halaman at seashells! IKR! ahahaha. at dahil sa dami ng extracurriculars na sinalihan ko nung college at nung med, natry ko na rin maging pianist, cheerleader, dancer at singer. at nakapasok na ako ng airport at nakasakay ng airplane at nakarating ng ibang bansa. at nung gumimik one time sa skating rink sa MOA ang block namin, I realized that I cannot ice skate to save my life...therefore. at dahil sa aking height ay never akong magiging stewardess...dahil parang ang height ko ay kasing taas lang ng upuan ng eroplano! AHAHAHAHAHA.
at in pure cartoon fashion, na-light bulb moment ako bigla after reading all this pag-jijinarts dahil...life's been kind to me. not just kind. but really really good...amazing! and after all that reminscing, ang take home point ay....I guess I really have transitioned into adulthood. time to make new dreams. new aspirations...such as...
--> giving my mommy and daddy my first paycheck para bilhin nila kahit ano gusto nila
-->be able to contribute to my family's expenses
-->to be able to give back to my aunts, uncles, and my dearest Lola
-->traveling with my family abroad
-->treating my 10M pamangkins to Tom's World or anywhere they want after my many utang na pamasko
-->driving all my friends who took the time and effort to make sure I got home safely
-->treating my dearest friends to dinner after all the panlilibre I was treated to dahil hindi pa ako sumesweldo
-->excelling in my career after my academic disaster that was medical school ahahaha.
-->writing a published research or contributing to a CPG
-->speaking in a convention which Dr. Tita will attend
-->be able to teach crazy medical subjects using my crazy words and code names
-->write any crazy literary piece about life and laughter and see it in some published place
-->make a pocket medicine level na book...na may crazy funny acronyms and criterias
-->contribute to making board exam questions...na may sense! at hindi...
